Who We Are
Director of National Sales
Mike Hengehold joined Sojourn as National Sales Director in February 2017. He is responsible for developing and managing all domestic sales and exports of Sojourn wines in the wholesale channel.
Mike is a Sonoma native, introduced to grape growing in the family vineyard with his dad. Those early experiences instilled a deep appreciation for the dirt, and inspired interest in the business of wine. Upon completion of his undergraduate studies in Finance and Marketing at Miami University in Oxford Ohio, Mike returned to Sonoma to start his career in wine. He now has over 25 years of experience in sales and distribution, with stints at Southern Wine & Spirits, Luna Vineyards, and most recently Caymus Vineyards in Napa Valley.
While at Luna, Mike applied much of what he’d learned in creating his own brand, called Chronicle. As sole proprietor, he worked closely with famed vintner and consulting winemaker Ted Lemon in gaining access to top Pinot Noir sites in Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley, and learning the techniques to crafting small lot, terroir-expressive wines through gentle handling and minimal manipulation. To this day, world class Pinot Noir is Mike’s passion, which drives him in his role with Sojourn.
Mike resides in Sonoma, raising his two children Drew and Lauren, and managing the family’s ten-acre Pinot Noir vineyard with his identical twin Doug. When not busy in the vineyard or office, Mike can be found in the kitchen creating new and exciting food parings with his wines, tending to his collection of classic cars, enjoying live music, and escaping to the beach.
Life is but a Sojourn. Enjoy the best of it. – Plato
