2015 Walala Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast

2015 Walala Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast

Just inland from the rugged Sonoma Coastline on a ridge 1,200 feet above sea-level lies the Walala Vineyard. The vineyard’s namesake is a reference to the Gualala river, which empties into the Pacific just a stones’ throw from the ridge line. Price Family Vineyards took ownership of this vineyard in 2014 and Atlas Vineyard Management has masterfully led the vineyard through the daunting task of extreme coastal winegrowing. The elevation of the vineyard offers respite from the dense fog that blankets the coast, while the moderate temperatures of the region allow for longer hang times in order to achieve optimal flavor ripeness. Dijon clones 113, 115, 777 and 828 are grown in extremely rocky soils and produce grapes of outstanding flavor and charm. Sojourn utilizes the four clones to seamlessly blend a wine of depth and intrigue that highlights the extreme growing conditions of the site. This wine has focus, showcasing lots of zesty aromatics of red and tropical fruits that are common of this region.
